65.01 THROUGH STREETS – STOP.

Every driver of a vehicle shall stop, unless a yield is permitted by this chapter, before entering an intersection with the following designated through streets.

  1. Poplar Street from Main Street to Park Street;
  2. Maple Street from west corporate limit to east corporate limit;
  3. Cottonwood Street from south corporate limit to north corporate limit;
  4. Main Street from Walnut Street to the dead end of Main Street.
65.02 STOP REQUIRED.

Every driver of a vehicle shall stop in accordance with the following:

  1. Elm Street. Vehicles traveling on Elm Street shall stop at Green Street.
  2. Main Street. Vehicles traveling on Main Street shall stop at Walnut Street.
  3. Linn Street. Vehicles traveling north on Linn Street shall stop at Ash Street.
  4. Arthur Street. Vehicles traveling east on Arthur Street shall stop at Logan Street.
  5. Locust Street. Vehicles traveling west on Locust Street shall stop at Samson Street.
  6. Poplar Street. Vehicles traveling east on Poplar Street shall stop at Park Street.
  7. Green Street. Vehicles traveling south on Green Street shall stop at Locust Street.
  8. Oak Street. Vehicles traveling west on Oak Street shall stop at Samson Street.
  9. Elm Street. Vehicles traveling on Elm Street shall stop at Vine Street;
  10. Elm Street. Vehicles traveling on Elm Street shall stop at Linn Street;
  11. Locust Street. Vehicles traveling east on Locust Street shall stop at Linn Street;
  12. Birch Street. Vehicles traveling east on Birch Street shall stop at Vine Street;
  13. Birch Street. Vehicles traveling west on Birch Street shall stop at Linn Street;
  14. Ash Street. Vehicles traveling east on Ash Street shall stop at Vine Street.
  15. Cottonwood Street. Vehicles traveling on Cottonwood Street shall stop at Elm Street.
  16. Cottonwood Street. Vehicles traveling on Cottonwood Street shall stop at Locust Street.
  17. Logan Street. Vehicles traveling on Logan Street shall stop at Arthur Drive.
65.03 FOUR-WAY STOP INTERSECTIONS.

Every driver of a vehicle shall stop before entering the following designated four-way stop intersections:

  1. Intersection of Maple Street and Main Street.
65.04 YIELD REQUIRED.

Every driver of a vehicle shall yield in accordance with the following:
(Code of Iowa, Sec. 321.345)

  1. Martha Street. Vehicles traveling north on Martha Street shall yield at National Street;
  2. Park Street. Vehicles traveling south on Park Street shall yield at Elm Street;
  3. Martha Street. Vehicles traveling south on Martha Street shall yield at Elm Street;
  4. Erickson Street. Vehicles traveling south on Erickson Street shall yield at Elm Street.
65.05 SCHOOL STOPS.

At the following school crossing zones every driver of a vehicle approaching said zone shall bring the vehicle to a full stop at a point ten (10) feet from the approach side of the crosswalk marked by an authorized school stop sign and thereafter proceed in a careful and prudent manner until the vehicle shall have passed through such school crossing zone.

  1. Main Street. Vehicles traveling on Main Street shall stop at Elm Street when the authorized school stop signs are in place.
65.06 STOP BEFORE CROSSING SIDEWALK.

The driver of a vehicle emerging from a private roadway, alley, driveway, or building shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to driving onto the sidewalk area and thereafter shall proceed into the sidewalk area only when able to do so without danger to pedestrian traffic and shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicular traffic on the street into which the vehicle is entering.

65.07 STOP WHEN TRAFFIC IS OBSTRUCTED.

Notwithstanding any traffic control signal indication to proceed, no driver shall enter an intersection or a marked crosswalk unless there is sufficient space on the other side of the intersection or crosswalk to accommodate the vehicle.

65.08 YIELD TO PEDESTRIANS IN CROSSWALKS.

Where traffic control signals are not in place or in operation, the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way, slowing down or stopping, if need be, to yield to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection.
