The Roland City Council met in regular session on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. The meeting was held at 6:00 pm at the Roland Community Center with Mayor Jerry Balmer presiding. Council members present at roll call were Aaron Burres, Larry Ford, Doug Sargent, Andy Webb, and Jerry Zamzow. Absent: none. Also present were City Clerk Jodi Meredith, Street Superintendent Harold Hovick, and 2 visitors from the community.
It was moved by Ford and seconded by Burres to approve the consent agenda which included Agenda, Minutes from the February 1, 2017 Council Meeting, and Claims for February 15, 2017 in the amount of $49,920.21. All were in favor, motion carried.
Public Input: Deputy Bartos gave a report for Story County Sheriff’s Office. CM asked about the traveling speed sign; Story County’s is down right now.
Department Head’s Reports were as follows:
Street Department: Nothing to report. Salt and sand pile is still good.
Water/Wastewater Department: Nothing to report Discussed debris in dirt pile and moving pile of cement.
City Clerk: Nothing to report
Lynn Schulte from the RADC group gave an update on the lots in the industrial area, membership is down, and getting rezoning done on lot4 on east side.
A motion was made by Webb and seconded by Burres to approve Resolution 17-07: Resolution To Amend The Date For Taking Bids On The Samson Sewer Project. Aye: Sargent, Ford, Zamzow, Webb, Burres. Nay: none. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Ford and seconded by Sargent to approve Resolution 17-08: Resolution To Call For A Public Hearing On Proposed Amended Budget for Fiscal Year 2016-17. Aye: Zamzow, Burres, Webb, Ford, Sargent. Nay: none. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Sargent and seconded by Webb to approve Resolution 17-09: Resolution To Call For A Public Hearing On Proposed Financial Budget For The City of Roland, Iowa Fiscal Year 2017-18. Aye: Ford, Zamzow, Burres, Sargent, Webb. Nay: none. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Ford and seconded by Webb to authorize Mayor Balmer to sign the 28E Agreement with Scott Township for Fire. All were in favor, motion carried.
Mayor/Council Comments: Mayor Balmer asked to have a meeting setup with Building Inspector. (March 22, 2017 at 6pm at the Community Center)
Public Input: Bruce Gualey from the Library Board reported that drywall and mudding were being done on the backroom.
With no further business at this time, Sargent moved for adjournment of the meeting at 6:45 pm seconded by Ford. All were in favor, motion carried. The next regular scheduled meeting will be Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 6:00 pm at the Roland Community Center.
