The Roland City Council met in regular session on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. The meeting was held at 6:00 pm at the Roland Community Center with Mayor Jerry Balmer presiding. Council members present at roll call were Aaron Burres, Doug Sargent, Andy Webb, and Jerry Zamzow. Absent: Larry Ford. Also present were Street Superintendent Harold Hovick, Water/Wastewater Superintendent Nathan Hovick, and 7 visitors from the community.
It was moved by Sargent and seconded by Webb to approve the consent agenda which included Agenda, Minutes from the January 4, 2017 Council Meeting, Claims for January 18, 2017 in the amount of $57,281.44, and Tax Abatement for 101 E. Locust St. All were in favor, motion carried.
Public Input: Rick Dewald of the Library Foundation presented a packet of information to the council including their mission statement and past five years income and expenses. Marilyn Gibbons of the Library Board requested a copy of the packet.
Department Head’s Reports were as follows:
Street Department: There is a plugged tile on Green St. that will be jetted to try to open it up some, but will be addressed alongside of the Elm St. sanitary sewer line. There is a sump pump causing ice on S. Main St. The council will have to decide if they want to run a collector line in the spring or make the resident pump the water to the back yard.
Water/Wastewater Department: V&K is working on plans for the water plant rehab.
City Clerk: Nothing to report.
Members of the various boards presented their FY18 Budget requests to the City Council for consideration.
A motion was made by Webb and seconded by Burres to approve Resolution 17-03: Resolution To Call For A Public Hearing To Amend FY17 Budget. Aye: Webb, Zamzow, Burres, Sargent. Nay: none. Motion carried.
Mayor/Council Comments: There were no comments at this time.
Public Input: Jeff Larson would like the trailers parked in the right-of-way in front of 402 N. Main St. to be addressed. One has an out of date registration and both have been there for months.
With no further business at this time, Sargent moved for adjournment of the meeting at 7:24 pm seconded by Burres. All were in favor, motion carried. The next regular scheduled meeting will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 6:00 pm at the Roland Community Center.
