The Roland City Council met in regular session on Wednesday July 1, 2015. The meeting was held at 6:00 pm at the Roland Community Center with Mayor Jerry Balmer presiding. Council members present at roll call were Brian Hill, Andy Webb, and Jerry Zamzow. Absent: Larry Ford and Doug Sargent. Public Input: There was no public input at this time.

Department Head’s Reports were as follows:

Street Department: The crack filing has been completed. The storm tile at the school has finally been fixed. Street paving and patching will be scheduled with Manatt’s. The storm sewer repair at Oak and Samson will hopefully get done next week.

Water/Wastewater Department: The pool inspector wants the chemical controller repaired now rather than at the end of the season when it was planned. Water main replacement will begin soon on Maple St. between Main and Green and S. Cottonwood between Maple and Poplar.

City Clerk: End of fiscal year things are getting completed.

Members of the Friends N Service asked about the impending lease agreement for the softball building to the school. A motion was made by Webb and seconded by Zamzow to call for a public hearing for the softball field lease agreement for July 15, 2015. All were in favor, motion carried.

Engineers Forrest Aldrich and Jordan Kappos from Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. presented preliminary alignment for the Samson Sanitary Sewer and explained their reasoning. Consensus of the council is to move forward with a more personal, informal approach to acquire the needed easements for the project.

Trees will be getting measured above streets, sidewalks, and alleys. Letters will be sent to properties in violation of the code.

Mayor/Council Comments: CM Hill asked if there are any updates about the grass at Britson Park. It has been rolled and the final application of starter fertilizer has been applied.
