Minutes of the Roland City Council
Regular Session
Wednesday, January 04, 2017

 The Roland City Council met in regular session on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.  The meeting was held at 6:00 pm at the Roland Community Center with Mayor Jerry Balmer presiding.  Council members present at roll call were Aaron Burres, Doug Sargent, Andy Webb, and Jerry Zamzow.  Absent: Larry Ford.  Also present were City Clerk Jodi Meredith and Street Superintendent Harold Hovick.

It was moved by Zamzow and seconded by Webb to approve the consent agenda which included Agenda, Minutes from the December 21, 2016 Council Meeting, and Claims for January 4, 2017 in the amount of $26,562.27.  All were in favor, motion carried.

 Public Input: There was no public input at this time.

Department Head’s Reports were as follows:

Street Department: Talked with Manatts about paving N. Cottonwood when the county paves R77 to the county line.  CMs Zamzow and Burres asked about the snow removal, they had seen complaints online and received calls but didn’t see anything wrong with not going out for the small amount.

 Water/Wastewater Department: Signed a five year extended parts and labor warrantee with Ziegler for the generator at the wastewater.

 City Clerk: Discussed the preliminary audit report and will not be at the next council meeting.

A motion was made by Zamzow and seconded by Burres to approve Resolution 17-01: Resolution Naming Depositories Of The Funds Of The City Of Roland, Iowa, Raising The Depository Amount Repealing Resolution.  Aye: Webb, Zamzow, Burres, Sargent.  Nay: none.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Webb and seconded by Sargent to approve Resolution 17-02: Resolution Approving The City’s Investment Policy And Authorizing The Mayor And City Clerk To Sign Same.  Aye: Zamzow, Sargent, Webb, Burres.  Nay: none.  Motion carried.

Mayor/Council Comments: Mayor Balmer discussed the RADC financial.

CW Webb discussed the Library Foundation financials that was found online and his opinion was that if they don’t produce adequate financials as requested that it be turned over to Story County Attorney’.

Public Input: There was no public input at this time.

With no further business at this time, Sargent moved for adjournment of the meeting at 6:22 pm seconded by Burres.  All were in favor, motion carried.  The next regular scheduled meeting will be Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 6:00 pm at the Roland Community Center.
